Cranbrook town is just five minutes walk from Millfields House. Cranbrook boasts an eclectic mix of modern, Victorian and mainly medieval buildings, including Cloth Halls, a beautiful medieval church known as the Cathedral of the Weald, a fascinating 15th century museum detailing the origins and history of this ancient town and two main streets housing specialist shops and galleries, selling antiques, gifts, jewellery, paintings, crafts and delicious food. Castles and Famous Places
Journey through time from the Norman splendour of Bodiam to the moated grandeur of Leeds Castle. Visit the childhood home of Anne Boleyn at Hever Castle and the magnificent medieval hall at Penshurst Place. National Trust places include Chartwell, Knole Place and Ightham Mote near Sevenoaks and Rudyard Kipling’s home at Batemans near Burwash in East Sussex.

Days Out
A visit to Canterbury with its famous cathedral or Brighton with its Royal Pavilion are only an hour away. Why not sample the wines from the vineyards of Kent and Sussex or visit historic Rye with its cobbled streets and medieval houses. For the railway enthusiast, there are many steam railways nearby such as Kent & East Sussex, Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch, the Bluebell and Lavender Lines.

For the more energetic
If you are keen on exercise, there are footpaths for local walks and we are close to the High Weald Landscape trail. There are well-signposted cycling routes, golf courses and leisure centres all nearby. Bedgebury Forest for example is just a fifteen minute drive away.  Here you can explore 2000 acres of forest via a 10km family cycle track or appreciate the natural beauty of the renowned Pinetum with the finest collection of conifers in the world.
