Jane and Richard Pugh
extend a warm welcome to Millfields House, their delightful, quietly
situated home, providing comfortable guest accommodation and delicious
home-cooked breakfasts. On fine summer days guests are welcomed with tea in the
garden under the shade of the Medlar tree. Millfields House was built by John Russell, the
last private owner of Cranbrook's Union Mill which can be seen from
the garden. From the garden and house you can see part of this
historic town including the fine church of St Dunstan's and Cranbrook
school.
The house is just a few minutes walk from the centre of
Cranbrook, an historic market town with a good range of shops
selling antiques, clothes, delicious food and wine plus a selection
of coffee bars, tea shops, pubs and restaurants offering a variety of menus from traditional fare
to fine dining.
Cranbrook is at the heart of of the High Weald so
Millfields House provides the ideal base for exploring the beautiful countryside of
the Garden of England with its many historic
houses, villages, towns, castles, cathedrals and glorious gardens.
Sissinghurst Castle Garden is just a few minutes drive
while Great Dixter, Bodiam Castle, Scotney Castle, Pashley Manor
Gardens and Bedgebury Pinetum are close by. With good road links other lovely gardens, National
Trust properties and cities are all within easy reach. Brighton and Canterbury
for
example are just an hour away.
